Running on the beach
In Cap Ferret, the Crohot beach on the ocean side is an idyllic setting for running, with miles of fine levelled sand. On the other side of the bay, set off early to run at the bottom of the Pilat sand dune. You will be thrilled by the view.
Running on the sea front
On the Ferret side, I start by rejoining the seafront path and I run back through the heart of the village, past the conche and then crossing the 44 hectares. In Arcachon, my advice is to start from the St Ferdinand church and then head towards the casino via the sea front: Boulevard de la Plage then boulevard de l’Ocean up to the Pyla sur mer sailing club. It is an easy run (about 7 km) with a breathtaking view of the bay.
Running through the forest
The Cap Ferret woodland is very pleasant for running. Among tall pinewoods, you will be in communion with the light, colours, smells, sensations and harmless fauna of the local forest. A bowl of fresh air within enchanting surroundings where the Cap Ferret marathon takes place every year in April.
Female running
The Arcachonnaise takes place every year during the month of May and is reserved to women who gather once a year to share a great and friendly sports event. You can choose between running or walking a 4 or 8 km distance. It is also open to men as long as they come fancy dressed ! it is a very enjoyable event that launches the holiday season.
Marathon running
With its natural and contrasted landscapes, the Cap Ferret is particularly suited to running marathons. As a result, the Villages Marathon takes place every year during the month of October and has become an international rendez vous. It is a cross country run (sand, forests,etc.). You will be running through the oyster villages as the oysters are also on the agenda of this large event ! Whether running or watching it, you will love the atmosphere and numerous attractions (music bands, pasta party, etc).
